B2B eCommerce businesses are growing in popularity with entrepreneurs as the world becomes increasingly more comfortable with working from home. People shop online now more than ever and even as early as 2018, eCommerce sales in the US had grown over 15% from the year prior. The rise in online shopping has replaced the brick-and-mortar store of yesteryear with a quick, instant gratification sales model that many business owners are leveraging with great success. One of the biggest stumbling blocks to succeeding in the eCommerce reality, however, is finding a means to streamline your fulfillment services so that you don’t waste time and money trying to get orders out to your clients. One of the best ways to handle this need is through kitting fulfillment models. If you have never heard of fulfillment kitting services, read on to learn more!

What Are Fulfillment Services?

Fulfillment services are warehouse locations that specialize in fulfilling and shipping orders for eCommerce businesses. They store your inventory of items and send out orders as they come in. These companies are logistics experts and they have access to reduced costs for postage and shipping materials that you cannot get for yourself. Another benefit to these services is that they will track inventory for you, handle returns and take care of broken merchandise and replacement products. Shipping and fulfilling orders can be a full-time job for you and your employees, and fulfillment services take this task off your shoulders so you can focus on running your company.

What are Kitting Services?

Kitting services are a bonus addendum to fulfillment services and they are the perfect addition to consider if you have a unique product that has many parts that need to be shipped out all at the same time. Kitting services can create unique solutions for products that have many bits and pieces that all need to be shipped together for each order. This might mean creating unique shipping and packaging materials or it might mean creating simplified inventory solutions to make sure that all of the pieces for your various products are always in stock. This can help to eliminate returns related to missing pieces and it can also make sure that your customers are happier with the condition that their items arrive in. There is nothing more discouraging as a consumer to order a product with many parts, only to find that some of them are missing. A kitting fulfillment company will make sure that this never happens to you and your products, saving you time and money and improving customer satisfaction.

How to Use Kitting and Fulfillment Services

The best way to get contracted with the right kitting and fulfillment service is to talk to different entities that offer these services together. Companies that handle complex shipping requirements for competitors might be a good place to start your search, or you could look around at the reviews of major fulfillment companies to see if people mention kitting services in their reviews. This is a customized solution and you will want to make sure that the business that you work with is experienced in your kind of shipping needs and knows how to handle your logistical requirements with ease and authority. There is no exchange for the peace of mind that comes from working with the right fulfillment company for your product’s shipping needs and you will want to make sure that the company that you pick out will be the right fit for your business model and your product.

I’ve been researching kitting and people keep referring to kitting and custom kitting. What is the difference?

    • Julie Coyle says:

Kitting is basically assembling an item or items into a box with the appropriate protective packaging materials. Custom kitting is more complex and can include different products, printed materials, branded packaging or branded labels. Custom kitting can also include special boxes that are different in shape or color.

I’ve been fulfilling orders out of my garage and I’m looking for a company to work with because the volume of orders is increasing and I’ve got a ton of boxes in my garage. If I hire you to do some kitting for me, will you use my boxes?

    • Julie Coyle says:

Yes, we will. We can use your boxes and create a pricing structure for you that will include kitting only. Please contact us for further discussion about your project.
